Period correct Parker cleaning tool.

A pull-through version ? (Home-made, of course...)

Have any of you ever used this device while cleaning your guns ? Will any dirt/debris/verdigris on the "fingers" of it damage the bore ?

I have one, but I never used it. (Mainly because, in the 2 months I've had it, I haven't fired my 10 gauge Parker !)

I was just in Portland Ore last weekend and in a vintage clothing store I spied one of these little devils. It is in a red 2 piece box marked "The Petmecky" . The brass shell is marked JC Petmecky Austin Texas. It came with a CM Powers cleaning rod c/w screw driver and oil bottle. Condition is better than sample shown in previous post. Any thoughts as to value?

The Powers/Faries rod can sell for as much as $100, but more likely $75. The cleaner is scarcer but probably won't sell for as much money as the rod.

Here is a cleaner in the box. UMC and Parker head stamped these cleaners.

For Jeff's cleaner, I revise my price estimates to a bit higher figure.

I recently purchased a 'Budd' cleaner for $75.00. It is the predecessor to the 'Budd-Petmecky' cleaner. It is in mint, unused condition with its original box.

Oops! It was $42.00 plus $4.00 S&H. Sorry!

Somewhere in my notes, is the patent number and description of your cleaner. If memory serves me right (and it may not) I believe yours as originally used to clean brass shells after firing. That's why the shell has the has the deeper taper to fit into the shell mouth and the scraper piece has the bristles in the center for cleaning bump that the primer fits in. Where as Bruces and Jeffs items are to clean shotgun bores.

I feel dumb! I just "READ" the literature that Bruce posted that goes on to state what I obviously neglected to read. It even has the patent number so I don't have to look in my notes.
