Question on my Parker
 

I have a 16 gauge 165xxx serial # (made in 1913) my question is as I look at markings on the flats it has K1 for the frame size and the weight is stamped
3 6

Then there is a V with a circle around it on the flats also, does that stand for vulcan steel in the barrels? the top of the rib is so marked.

It also has J.G in a circle on the flats is that the initials of who proofed the barrels?

Fred, the 1 is the frame size (1 is most common for 16ga guns), the K is probably an inspectors mark, the V is for Vulcan grade, the 3-6 is the unstruck barrel weight, and J.G. is the barrel forman James Geary.

You would learn a lot if you went to the home page and read all the links found on the left hand side.

Fred, If you look closely I think you will see the mark K1 is actually a Kf.

The letter stamped within the circle is the type of steel as marked on the barrel rib. There was V, P, PS, T, A, P, and W. The composite barrels used different stamped steel designations and were not within a circle.
