Movie; Unbroken

Many of us have family connections to World War II, I take care of my dad and he was a sailor assigned to the Pacific Fleet and all three of his brothers served in the war. Yesterday I went to see the movie Unbroken" and I encourage all of us see the movie and take our kids and grandchildren. Extremely powerful!!!!

I saw it and it is a powerful movie

I thought the book was far superior. Louie was a helluva man while in prison, but even more so for forgiving "The Bird. That whole process was reduced to one black and white sentence at the end of the movie. The movie folks missed the whole point, IMHO

I have the book on cd and will listen to that before and if I see the movie. I find that the books are generally more engaging.

I read the book and could not put it down until I finished it. The movie is ok but a movie can only show a fraction of what happened to this uncommonly brave and forgiving man.

I finally saw it last night. It is a good movie. But it falls well short of the book. They just skipped over too much
You didn't see the comradship of the prisoners or the bomber crews, nor did you get any of the worry about how unlikely they were to be rescued. Plus, they left out the entire story of his redemption.

Don't get me wrong it was good, and they would have to make it as long as Gone with the Wind to do it justice, but it still didn't quite feel right.

I listened to half the book on CD as I drove through the night going to Anchorage, then the rest as I returned to Fairbanks doing the same. It was very captivating.

Yep, read the book. The movie missed just too much important stuff.
