enigma

I have a friend with what looks like a G grade, book says G , but the barrel flats have a D on them . they are damascus barrels but why would they stamp it fot that? It is an ejector gun, solid buttplate,( not skeleton) no dogs in the engraving. Whats the D for?

I suspect that D is stamped on the right barrel flat nearest the front of the barrel flat and it represents Damascus Steel.

The only place that a Parker was stamped for grade is the water table of the frame.

Actually, on grades 3 and up the grade numeral was stamped on the right barrel flat nearest the breech end. On D-Grade and higher you will see a stamp of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 representing the letter grades of D, C, B, A, AA, A1S, Invincible.... again, depending on the grade. Grade 2 and lower were not stamped.
