New Member Recent Purchase GH 16ga
Hi Everyone,
I live in central Va and spend most of my free time following my 2 Brittneys through the mountains while carrying a shotgun. While grouse hunting in Maine this year I came across a Parker 12ga hammer gun, I purchased the gun and soon became fascinated with the quality and workmanship. Wanting to learn more about the Parker Gun I ordered a few books and found the PGCA which I joined about a week ago. My wife and I were at a Christmas party where someone mentioned a Parker shotgun they had seen at a local gun shop. When I checked it out I found that it was a Parker GH model 16ga, after negotiating a price it was mine. Being relatively new to Parker Guns there some things I'm not sure about with this gun. I am mailing in my request for a research letter tomorrow, but any help in the meantime would be appreciated. GH model 16ga 28 inch Damascus barrel serial # 144841. There is no Parker shield on the stock but it does have Parker cap and butt plate, is this unusual? Also I think the barrels may have been cut. |
the book agrees - 16 gauge with 28 in damascus barrels
welcome to the board |
The stock should have the brass shield in the toe line of the stock. If there is no inletting for it, or the nail holes for it, then the stock may be a replacement.

Mike - if you can post some pictures of the stock - folks like Brian can give you a lot of info- possibly the stock was reworked - or replaced
is the serial number under the trigger guard? |
Brian,
I think the stock may be a replacement as the screws are slightly out of time and the dogs head butt plate is flat at the top where it touches the wood of the stock, on my hammer gun the butt plat has a teardrop (not sure about the terminology) where it mates to the wood at the top. Also it seems slightly too thick, in my limited experience. Whoever made it done an excellent job overall though. |
I don't have a digital phone available, but I can try to post a pic with my android phone.

Not sure if I have it right.

A replacement stock for sure. Several form issues there that make it not correct for a Parker factory stock.

Replacement makes it a good candidate for bending or cutting to make it fit. PGCA member that does my stock work is in Central Va too.
