Screw in Beavertail Forearm

I'm looking at a VHE 16 Ga Factory Skeet Gun. There is a screw countersunk into the front of the beavertail forearm, placed at an angle to the barrell. Anyone know if this is factory or added and if factory what the purpose might be? :banghead:

We would need to see a picture of the screw you reference before we can comment on it.

That, having been said, the only screw in the front of the beavertail forend should be the reinforcing screw that is countersunk into the very tip of the forend and runs parallel with the barrels and threads directly into the front of the forend iron.

Here are pics of beavertails on VHE 16 skeet on left and GHE 12 skeet right, is this the screw you are referring to?

You folks have answered my question. The screw in the foreend is exactly as your picture and description. Thank you both for your assistance. Now to figure what I want to offer.

I have always wondered why a 16 gauge skeet gun when the game of skeet made no
catagory for 16 gauge. I am told you could
use a 16 in a 12 Gauge event but why?

In response to Pittypatdugan, a 16ga skeet gun would make an excellent, excellent Gentleman Bob bird gun!
