WAY O/T BUT SOME HERE MIGHT BE INTERESTED
I know that this is way off topic but I thought that some here might be interested. This weekend, March 6-7, Charlton Hall Auction in Columbia, SC has in it's sale a group of solid gold gentleman's jewelry commissioned and made for Marshall "Carbine" Williams in 1952. It includes a money clip, a pair of cufflinks, belt & buckle, etc. all in solid gold w/ gemstones. Their web site is www.charltonhallauctions.com & no, they don't belong to me.

What! No solid gold, gem-encrusted toothpick holder?

CARBINE WILLIAMS
I attended the auction yesterday at Charlton Hall & sat with my old friend Ross Beard who wrote the book on Carbine. The jewelry brought good prices: Money Clip $4,000, Leather Belt & Buckle $6,000, Tie Clip $1,500 & Cufflinks $2,500. The proceeds will go a long way in helping Carbine's family.
BTW: I bought a very nice G Grade Parker there myself. Best Regards, G:)eorge |
