Can anyone decipher this for me? Any important info other than that it's a 0 frame gun?

British marks. Was this gun rebarreled? What does it say on the rib?

662 is bore diameter, BNP=British nitro proofed 2 1/2 " 16 gauge 3 ton per square inch. That is all British proof marks. Vin a circle stands for Vulcan steel, jg is Parker inspector and 3 is barrel weight, can't see the smaller # to indicate ounces.

sounds like the gun spent part of its life in the UK

This gun in currently in the UK. Is it safe to say from the picture that those are the original barrels? I am trying to get one of the rib. Also can you verify that it is in fact a 0 frame gun?

says "O" on the rear lug but to be sure, measure firing pin to firing pin. Will be 1" center to center

Would you say based on the marks that the barrels are definitely parker made?

Rick Losey 11-20-2014 01:54 PM

the proofs are British - required when a foreign gun is imported into the UK

the other marks as noted above are Parker

If those small letters are "MB" (on either side of the "crossed sword" mark), then it was proofed in 1961, in Birmingham.

Is that to say that there are guns around that are stamped with a 0 and are not 0 frames?

John
