One Blue one Ruff
 

Again these were taken with my Remington 1894 16 gauge and one ounce of #6. The 16 gauge is my favorite upland gauge.

Come on guys help me out I'm running out of digital pictures. And I do like pictures of game and guns, especially double guns. Yes, I do own some Parkers, I just don't have any pictures of them.

Dennis what Part of the country are you finding these Birds??? Blues are still good to eat here in Idaho, later in the year different a different bird...

David, what changes them? - I suspect the buds they eat later on.

We frequently take both Blues and Ruffs early in the season. The Blues move up in elevation when winter comes and I understand their diet does change then.

Hoping to go and look for some tomorrow. Now I'll have to decide which shotgun to take. 410, 28, 20, 15, 16, 13, 12, breech-loader or muzzle-loader but surly not a 10. Decisions, decisions.

Up here the spruce grouse change from their normal lowbush cranberry diet to spruce needles in winter and taste like battery acid as a result! Yukkk. I'd guess blues do something similar. We have blues in SE Alaska but you generally hear them about 100ft up a gigantic fir or white spruce tree. I've heard many but have never actually seen one.

Yes:: What Richard said. Grouse here in Idaho move with the season, and their diet changes with the season and location also. sage grouse can get so rank you can not get one close to your mouth, much less inside… and yet at times the old sage grouse is damn good eating??? Same with the big Blues.

Not yet, and it would be a muzzle loader. Nor do I have a 32, 24 or 14 gauge, but I do keep looking. I keep thinking I'll see a real Parker that takes the B case rather than the A case but, that hasn't happened yet either.

For today I finally settled on my Remington 1900 16 gauge ejector with steel tubes choked IC and Mod. Didn't see a feather. Unfortunately our grouse population close to home is down. Guess I'll have to look at more new country, Oh Darn.
