Fox goose gun
I was talking to a fella about a win mod 42 and asked if he had any doubles. He said he has 1 fox. Claimed it was called a goose gun because it has 32" bbls. Is there such a designation for foxes? Are 32" bbls uncommon?

i think people still think the longer the barrels the farther they will shoot thus the name goose gun..i kinda wish it were true and way down i guess even i like to think the longer the barrel the higher up it will kill that goose...charlie

i believe 32 inch barrels were available on all grades from the Sterlingworth on up
a Becker Special for waterfowl would be a close as you get to a goose gun, Fox made no 10 gauges PS - i forgot the Savage made wildfowl 3" Sterlingworths |
Might be a HE "Super" Fox.

Steve, Fox guns were only made in 20,16 and 12 gauge.

Yes I am quite aware of that, however, there have been a couple non-factory 28 gauge guns put together by enterprising folks using un-chambered 20 gauge barrels.
