I am contemplating the purchase of a PH grade Parker. According to the serialization book, this gun came with double triggers and one set of barrels in 1922. It now has a second set of barrels which have a 1936 Remington repair code stamped on them. The gun also has a single selective trigger installed. Attached are a few photos of the gun. One photo shows the SST. Is there any doubt this is a Parker trigger? The gun also has the problem of the top lever always returning to center when the barrels are opened or removed from the frame. Is this a minor issue that a qualified gunsmith can easily repair or could this be a major repair?

Nice gun, most likely pretty simple repair. Of course that's over the net without really examining it.

The issue with the top lever is the trip in the bottom of the frame which catches the bolt. The issue could be damage, a stuck spring in the assembly, or it could just need cleaning. Would not know until it is opened up and worked on.

That does look to be a Parker SST.

Look at your top photo. Just to the left of the cut/opening for the doll's head extension is the bolt that locks into the barrel lug. If you have access to the gun, move the opening lever which will retract the bolt. You will then see the trip pin that is not engaging in the bolt when the gun is opened and the lever is to the right. With a wooden dowel, press down on the pin. It should move up and down. If it does not, the small spring is broken or it is gummed up; then with the lever to the right, if you hook something underneath it, it should pull up and catch the bolt (part 15 in the diagram under technical info). If it works then, it can't be much to fix.

Compressed air or some lubricating spray on just the trip may fix the problem.
