Other Bests
When we hear, or read, about best guns the discussions usually center around british sidelocks. I'm working on getting some photos up of a german prewar boxlock retailed by Otto Bock of Berlin. To my eye it looks close to a Daly Diamond Grade in overall fit and finish with slightly less engraving coverage but in a totally differant style.
Anyone else have any eyecandy they would like to share? |
Prussian Dalys are about the best of the best in boxlocks. At their price point, they would probably qualify as the best of the best in any configuration of locks.

I do like the German take on game scene engraving

I saw an early J.P. Saur at Duluth last weekend. It was a straight stock and lavishly engraved in 12ga. I am not a 12ga guy but the new owner had just bought it on his way to the shoot at Cabela's for $1500:eek: I'd have bought for that in a heart beat, it was a solid and gorgeous gun. The French as well as the Belgium's made some very nice firearms as well.

The old Prussian made Daly's are one of the best values out there. This one is a 12 that feels like a 20.

The Dalys, at least mine and the one pictured, are not ugly guns. The gun at the beginning of this thread is an exceptional example of German guns. Check out the Greener safety. Wow.

Todd,
Is your gun damascus or steel. Sweet wood on that one. |
