That PH has some pretty crisp looking engraving. Also looks to have been well used, but properly cared for.

yep, it is in nice shape. i haven't a clue who had it or where it came from. the barrels cleand up very nice. i also have a remington .22 "Improved model 6" my grandfather taught me how to shhot on......and a Stevens .25 single with a lever operated rolling block.....if i could just find some .25 rim fire????

bill woodward 07-13-2014 10:38 PM

how do you tell it is a PH?? did i miss something??

thanks, bill

Brian, where is Spencerport? we lived in Mt Kisco for about five years and my wifes step-father is from the Sayville area.

Brian Dudley 07-13-2014 10:48 PM

The grade stamp is on the water table "P" and the engraving pattern.

Spencerport is on the west side of Rochester, NY.

Brian referred to your gun as a PH. P is the grade and H is for hammerles. Older guns dont have the H stamped on the frame but are commonly referred to in this way.

And just in case you didn't know, it is a Grade 1.

bill woodward 07-14-2014 09:50 PM

thanks Brian and Wayne and Dean.....

Dean, no i didn't know what grade or how to grade??

Brian, Mt Kisco didn't get all that much snow every year and i always wished we lived up your way....Florida doesn't get any but maybe some flurries now and then....and its way too flat!

Wayne, thanks, i have a lot to learn about these......they are really different from the new AR platform LR-308 i just bought. whole different world now! and all kinds of stuff to learn.

This forum is a great place to learn.
