Length of Pull

I realize most Parker's come with 14" to 14 1/4" unless special ordered.

Also realize every shooter is different but I wanted to ask the following:

Do you find this standard LOP too long or short for typical wing shooting?

I have found 13.5" to 13.75" works well for me.

If I am going into the grouse woods or any cold weather gunning, I want that length of pull that begins with thirteen. I've got a room full of them. Watch those obituaries.

I don't have long arms but I like a LOP 'longer' than it's supposed to be, maybe 14.5"
That, and a nice slippery skeleton steel butt makes for a quick mount and good fit.

I've always been of the opinion that the market places a lower value on almost any shotgun with an LOP under 14"...could be wrong about that.

Anyone who can't shoot a 14-1/4" LOP is making excuses. Don't overthink this. Grab your gun, a flat of shells and shoot a away. For hunting in the US no one really needs any more LOP than that.

I have found that I can still feel comfortable with a gun with a longer than 14.5" lop. However, the heel always wants to catch in my armpit if mounting it. I have found that a good amount of the cheaper Spanish made box-locks have long length of pulls.
For me, anything from 13.75" to 14.5" works well.

I don't think there is any single LOP that is the ideal for each person. Many variables are at work as it relates to a comfortable shooting "fit". Forend type, stock configuration, cast, pitch, double trigger, single trigger, ****** etc. all play apart in "fit". I have guns from LOPs of 14" to 15" that feel very good and I shoot as well as ever (not well by the way). I also have guns that I thought had the ideal configuration that I can' hit the broad side of a gamebird or clay with. If it feels good shoot it!!!!

My favorites are from 13 1/2" to 15 3/4", even more spread out than Bob's. I once missed a bird with the longest one and once with the shortest one, but my buddies picked up for me. The total number of birds in the bag was the same. Pigeons are a different thing altogether, but the gun is already mounted, so no big deal.
