With a few birds left and the end of the game farm season coming a friend invited me and my "new" Parker lifter for a try out. The first bird folded on the second barrel. On the second bird I shouldered the gun before pulling the hammers. Need a little more practice. It will come. I like the feel of the old girl.

Congratulations on the pheasant! Nice looking lifter...how long are the barrels?. It took me a few hunts to get used to hammers but now it's just natural.

There really is nothing like hunting with a hammer gun. My favorite is duck hunting from a blind. There's just something about it that feels "right"....

The next step

will be a try for a big Tom turkey in a couple weeks. Loaded up some #5s in Federal paper hulls. Need to pattern the load. How far away do I put that
Mt. Dew can?

40 yards if you want to see what a load of 5's will do to a turkey's head and neck.
