question

i m trying to trade for a n grade 10 ga hammerless s parker..my question is the barrels on this gun are stamped 7 lb 10 oz..now the barrels are marked as a 3 frame..seems like this is mighty heavy barrels for a 3 frame gun..sorry i forgot the serial no as of now...the barrels are only 30 inch and the end of the barrels appear in the pictures to be very thick and are listed as full and full chokes..this probably was a heavy duty duck gun in her time..she probly weighs in at about 12 lbs maybe a little more..i m just guessing the weight if the barrel are 7 lb and 10 oz s then the stock and action should weigh about 5 lb s.. anybody else got a set of this heavy barrels on a 3 frame or a gun on a 3 frame that weighs in at around 12 lb s...will be a coupla weeks before i know if i get the gun.. would like to know what you fellas think... charlie

Charlie, those barrels are heavy enough for an 8 gauge Parker. My hammer 8, with 34" barrels are only stamped 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Are you sure it's a10, and not an 8? Maybe the 3 stamp is a poorly stamped 6, or even the never seen 8. When you get the gun, post pictures. This has got to be one heavy gun. Bill

bill i only know that the gun owner says its a 10 ga andfor sure the barrels are stamped 7 lbs 10 oz..its sure looks like it is stamped a 3 frame gun..its a fish tail hammerless gun sure wish i remembered the serial no..it will be a coupla weeks before i know if i get the gun it would be nice if it turned out to be a 8 ga...but it sure is interesting as a10 ga.. it has twist barrels marked on it..thomas has a big heavy 10 ga maybe he will pitch in and tell us it weight and frame size if i remember rite his barrels weigh over 9 lbs...charlie

Charlie I am in Mexico right now so I do not have access to my 3 frame 10 gauge GHE hammerless. I believe my barrels are about 6 1/2 lbs. and they are 36". Sounds like this could be a really cool old gun.

I do not see how 3 frame barrels would weigh 7 lbs even if they are straight tubes without striking the barrels. Very interesting Charlie cant wait to see what come of this.

Good luck on getting that gun. Sounds like a good one

Hi Charlie, my post is similar to what Bill said about his 8 ga. For comparison, my five frame 10 gauge hammer gun with 34" tubes is stamped 7 lbs 1 oz. It weighs 12.5 lbs.

You have to get pictures of this gun and post. A 3 frame? It sounds like it is a monster.

Won't that be something if the gun turns out to be an 8 bore.

Charlie a serial number and some more specific information on the markings would help. I know you will need more information before you write a check.

it will be at least 2 weeks before i know for sure if i get this gun..by the pictures it will just be a shooter ..but a good one..i m really excited about this old gun its got to have a hidden storey behind it i hope when i get the serial no of this gun that the records will show something..i will post as i get info of it and i m pretty sure i will get the gun..i m giveing up a 410 winchester model 42 in trade for this gun..i like the 410 but i like the big parker better... charlie
