Today, Wednesday, is the auction day for some interesting Parkers and other fine doubles. Serious collectors will have an opportunity for some great guns from an auction house that has long been a good friend to the PGCA and the collecting community.

Bruce I don't know how you can say they have been a friend to the PGCA. What have they specifically done for the PGCA? I know two members who have had bad experiences with them. I would give my guns away befor putting them in their auction and I wouldn't buy from them no matter what.

Julia's Auction House has donated many thousands of dollars to the PGCA, as we have stated here several times previously. I don't know the current total, but I believe it is now well in excess of ten thousand dollars of direct contributions.

How many PGCA members other than PGCA life member gentleman Jim Julia have done anything similar?

Julia's has consistently offered some of the finest Parkers to serious collectors. There are few other opportunities to acquire some of these types of guns other than from the Julia Auction.

Julia's Auction House also has opened its doors in advance to PGCA representatives when special guns have been offered. Jim Julia has allowed valuable guns to be handled and closely examined without supervision. A well known and publicized example of that generosity involved the gun made for Czar Nicolas. I bought a CH from Julia's several years ago and they were very pleasant to work with. I have nothing but good experiences with them.

I must agree with Todd, all my experiences have been positive too.

I'm on the fence regarding the financial aspect of 'friendship' to the PGCA. I guess I'm a lot older than some people as I recall the days when buying friendship was looked down upon. Those were the days when the USA was not for sale, though.

That said, regardless of money, I've bought a number of guns from Julia's and had nothing but good experience. These are the guys, let's not forget, who toe the line when it comes to shipping a gun - they refuse to use the usual gun manglers/losers known as UPS / USPS. That's a big one for me.

I did have one gun arrive not as advertised; they quickly verified that they were mistaken and Jim Julia himself called me and gave me the option of returning it or keeping it, no issues.

I watched the auction on line as a blizzard was blowing outside. It seems to me the prices realized on the Parkers, Foxes and LC Smiths were strong. The DE Fox sold for $49K ($42.5K with jig). They sure seem to be the premier firearms auction house and get consistently strong prices.
