Checkering LPI on different Grades

Searching to see how many LPI checkering is on the different grades, VH, PH, GH, & DH.

Thanks

There is no deffinate standard. It varies in different times of manufacture. I have seen GH guns with as fine as 22 lpi and DH guns with as course as 20 lpi.

General rule of thumb is:
Trojan: 16
VH: 18
GH: 18 or 20
DH: 20 or 22

And... Original checkering would not be fully pointed in any of these grades.

I 'm not totally convinced on that Brian in that the checkering on these grades not being pointed ...I've had at least three of the grades mentioned here that once degreased had perfectly pointed checkering in the areas of least wear ...maybe someone pointed them up way off in the past ,I'm not sure ,but the pattern was a perfectly cut original...or seemed that way .

One observation in regards to line spacing I notice on not only parkers, but other makes as well is that the number of lines per inch is not always consistent with modern guages or tools. Likely due to the fact that the tools being used back then were hand made.

Noticed that too.
