Fox - Early A Grade issue

I have an A grade in the 2000 serial number range that is loose. I added a few pieces of scotch tape to the U-section of the barrel lug, and now she locks up tight. The barrels will fall free without any resistance when I push the top tang lever. Also, the barrels will wiggle left and right when hanging from the receiver.

I am not familiar with the piece of metal that is attached to the bottom of the barrel lug. There seems to be a spring underneath that piece. That piece, whatever the correct term for it, is also fairly loose on the barrel lug. Seems like it should be tighter. If I replace the spring, will that yield positive results? Thoughts or experiences are appreciated.

I think it is the "cocking slide" at the bottom of the barrel lug that I am describing as being loose???

time to seek professional help.

You would be correct about it being the cocking slide. You will have to have the hook welded up and refitted to obtain the proper results. Brian Dudley seems to know a lot about foxes. Maybe he will chime in.

Will,
Sounds like the gun is loose on face as the primary problem.
I do not think that a new spring for the cocking slide will help much.
I send my loose on face guns to Brad Bachelder who can add metal to the hook via micro welding in house.
