Parker snap caps
I have an unusual snap cap and am wondering if anyone else has seen this. They're very nice 12ga nickel plated caps with adjustable strikers and are inscribed simply "Parker". No Parker Bros or Reproduction. One of them was made oversized and will only fit into a large chamber. The only guns I have that will take the fat one are my Remington hammer gun and my 1883 Parker hammer gun. It won't go more than half way into any other Parker chamber. To make it usable I'd have to turn or grind it down.

Several dozen pairs in assorted gauges were imported from England in the 1980's and 90's by PGCA member Dave Parker. Dave owned the Olathe Gun Shop in Kansas. He advertised them in the PP's. They have become collectors items now. I have an extra 20ga pair.
They are some of the rare Parker items at least partially originating out here. Maybe some time we'll have a decent Parker out here too. |
So, why am I so lucky to get one that is oversized?

Rich, I have an oversized 12g a too! thought it was a manufacturing error, Gary

Maybe the oversize is very small. Run it up into a PW375 resizer and see if it will go up to the rim.

Rich, I had an oversized one as well that came with a Repro that I bought. Stuck in the chamber. After going apoplectic, eventually got it out and trashed it.

A decade or two ago, one of the mail order houses was selling nickel plated snap caps and oil bottles marked PARKER, A.H. FOX or L.C. SMITH.
