Quail Hunting
Today, after rabbit hunting with my 75 year old uncle, he mentioned that before he dies he would like to stand behind dogs pointing quail, and get to shoot a covey. His birthday is coming up in a couple weeks and I'm thinking I would like to make his wish a reality. Do any of you guys have a recommendation for a quail hunt? I've seen plantation hunts in Georgia listed in various magazines but I don't know which ones would be good. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Mike my friends and I have had great shooting at Little River Plantation in Albany, GA Nice people and fairly priced. They have a web site. Good luck, Brad Boyer

Mike: I have heard a lot of good things about Brentwood Plantation in Bainbridge, Georgia and also Groton Plantation in Estill, South Carolina.

Morrison Pines Plantation in Moultrie, GA (no relation btw). Just got back from there and it is excellent. Reasonable price, good staff, good hunting. They have a website too

Still wild out here. Need good dogs and have to walk a lot.

Don't know if Unk would be up for that, but I sure would

Our birds were mostly released, but all flew very well.

Rio Piedra in SW Georgia is a good location also. They do an early release and supplement before a hunt. The lodge is on the Flint River and the food is great. The best part are two very good guides Mark Davis who hunts his own string of dogs and Gary Griffin who is very knowledgeable about Parker shotguns and I do mean very knowledgeable!
