Thanks, But, as you look around you will note some types don't have pictures or could use more ........ so any pictures you can send me would be a help.

Photos, if you can send them to me at rwvl1947@gmail.com I'll load them in for you. Just make sure to tell me what they are to reduce my error rate. If I get to many of one grade and type I may not use them all. I hope that happens, to many would be nice from my point of view.

Could anyone explain futher for this newbie how the grades of hammer guns were categorized? were hammer guns made concurrently with hammerless up untill the end or are hammer guns typically older. was the fishtail lever people like so much an option or available on specific models or after a certain date? is the underlifter an early option or was it simply preference of the buyer and available concurently with top lever hammers and hammerless guns?

The first Parkers were hammer guns from about 1867 and the hammerless was introduced in about 1887. The hammer gun was continued until about somewhere soon after WW I. The first hammer guns were of the T-Latch design but were soon replaced by the lifter. Then came the top action but it had a straight lever and the gun could not be opened without first decocking the right hammer. The "fishtail" or serpentine top lever was developed to allow the gun to be opened safely without the sometimes unsafe decocking of the right hammer.
