16 Slam Completed

4 Attachment(s)
Although I did not start out with this in mind, I decided to hunt with all 8 of my 16 ga's this year and hopefully take game. The GH16, Lefever G 16, and a Sterlingworth 16 made the trip to the UP. On return , the VH 16, Rizzini 600 16, Sterlingworth Deluxe, and Fox A grade 16 were successfull on pheasants. I completed the slam on Friday with my little DHE O frame 16 Parker. It is a better grouse gun, than pheasant gun with it's 26" cyl/mod barrels. I am going to have to carry this gun more often, as I really enjoyed hunting it.

Good hunt

Looks like the dog's shins had to deal with some hard snow crust

Mills Morrison 12-04-2013 11:38 AM

That is great. I need to add to my 16 gauge collection.

Harold Lee Pickens 12-04-2013 12:13 PM

The snow was actually soft and wet, but my dogs always develop those abrasions on their shins. I used to think it was due to their bells, but it just seems to be due the briars
and brush they bust thru. They look like that from October thru February.
Trying to get out of the office to go deer hunting at the farm today, but as I am changing clothes, I got calls from 2 ER's and have eye injuries on the way, crappers!!!

Now you need an LC Smith 16 gauge.

I had an LC Smith 16 field and traded it for a Francotte which I traded for my GH 16--it,s a keeper!!

Charlie - that is a J P Sauer and Sohn - I would guess it would be one of the last pre-war style made -although it's actually not "Pre" - proofed in April 1944 - I have always wondered about who could have ordered a nice bird gun at that time in Germany's history. And did they ever get to use it while busy ducking air mail from my wife's father's bomber group and shortly after - the tanks from my father's division.
