gun Vs Letter
the letter arrived today, the hammer gun hasn't yet
but - the seller says 32" twist barrels (i have to assume he can measure) the letter says 30" twist - the number is not in the serialization book there is no serial number on the barrels- the rib is correct, i think the serial numbered barrels came shortly after this one was made 1887/89 depending on the home page or letter just trying to pin it down within the inspection period, i wasn't expecting a composed gun - any thoughts, is this a common discrepancy or a red flag http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps8a32e839.jpg |
Rick, check-hook guns would have the serial number stamped in the left side of the locking lug. I wonder what the explanation might be for the missing serial number.
Some kind of oversight at Meriden... ? |
not sure - but length mystery is solved - they are 32 from the factory
and Daniel Boone gifted the gun to Annie Oakley - ok maybe not |
and another famous gun turns up.. nice gun ....charlie

Daniel Boon was my great great uncle on my cousin Alberts side of the family.
All of Uncle Boon's guns were to come to me in a will he wrote on a bear hide. therefor the gun is rightfully mine so please forward ASAP:duck: Please post pics when your new treasure arrives. |
True story: there is a guy who lives in Eagle, Alaska, the prettiest village on the Yukon river - Jack Boone - who is a bonified relative of Dan'l himself. He had an excellent old fashioned dry goods store in Eagle when I worked there in 1990. Quite the character.
