Trbute to a Hunter
1 Attachment(s)
I discovered this on a ridge above the Escanaba River in the UP. It is a cross with an old red hunting coat hung on it, a pair of boots, and hunting cap. On the metal plate is an old shell casing and hunting knife attached. It is inscribed in memory of our father( I will not print the name out of respect for the family) who hunted this ground all his life.
I found it a fitting trbute to an obvious loving family to their father. I would be proud to be remembered that way. It always sends a chill up my back when I hunt past this area, but I am sure he approves and wishes me good luck. I took 2 grouse over Betty on that hunt. |
It's in my will that some of my ashes be loaded in a bunch of 16 gauge shells that my friends may continue to take "me" hunting with them.... and that "I" may continue to miss grouse. It'll give them a good alibi anyhow.

I bet his ashes are there too. Gerald

Dean, You and I think alike. Told my sons the same thing, I want them to take me hunting for many more seasons after I've gone.:)
|
You never know. You might make a good buffer.
|
I'm glad to see no one has defiled it by stealing the boots or knofe. A fitting tribute to a bird hunter.
|
Well, the coat and boots were a little too small for me.

Too abrasive... I'm told. |
My Uncle Jerry's last gift to me, literally purchased the last time he left his home before his death, was a box of shotgun shells. I take one with me for my first shot on special hunts, I used one on my first invite to Ste. Anne's this year.
