Butt stock maker needed

Hello, newbie here I grew up watching my dad shoot his trojan 12ga. and wanted to shoot a gun just like dads. well my first gun was a I grade levefer. and through the years I have acquired several more levefers. sorry to say as of 01/21/2010 I became the owner of the above Parker. anyway I now have a 5 year old grandson who wants to shoot a gun just like grandpa's. as luck would have it, I walked into the right yard sale at the right time the other day. picked up a 16Ga. VHE on a 0 frame 26in. barrels ser.# 147086 the gun is in pretty good shape except for the butt stock need a new one have contacted several folks any where from $2,200.00 on down. would like to find something to make it a shooter for the boy. just standard walnut no checkering fitted and sanded say to 120 I can oil finish it my self to save. also need the safety workings. any referrals would be great.

also any info on the gun will be helpful, is the chamber 2 9/16 if so can it be pushed out to 2 3/4. I'm in Arizona by the Calif / Nevada border if that helps with the referral

THANKS HAVE A GREAT DAY
BILL

Bill,
Sounds like a great project for your grandson. I may propose maybe trying to have a sound original replacement stock fitted up to the action first. It can be altered to whatever dimensions you want for him. This would be the most economical option.

Whatever you decide to do, it will no doubt be a perfect thing to leave him that he will cherish for his lifetime.

And I would not recommend altering the chambers on the 0 frame 16g.

what would be the best to shoot from this gun. would 2 3/4 be ok at low pressure 8-9,000. if not where can one get short 16ga. I have no problem reloading my own if I can get short hulls.

THANKS HAVE A GREAT DAY

you can get great low pressure loads from RST

http://www.rstshells.com/

to get short hulls most of us just trim longer ones.

Before alowing anybody to lenthen the chambers you need to have the minimun barrel wall thickness checked.

THANKS, everybody I have talked to pretty much say the same thing don't do it. I have been in contact with B. Dudley about getting the butt stock. so as soon as I get the gun up and running I am going to buy some cheddite 16ga. 2 1/2" hulls from Graf & sons.

Bill, when I get the gun for the stock work, I will also check out the wall thickness for you. That way you know what you are dealing with.
