Newbie from Fredericksburg, TX says hello!
 

Hola compadres, first post!

I'm a 66 year old male named Forrest Armstrong, lived many years in Houston, retired to Fredericksburg, TX about 2 years ago.

I've been an enthusiast/collector/trader since I was a kid but always considered Parkers a little above my league, although my first shotgun was an LC. I recently acquiesced and bought two unfinished A-1 repros which I sent to Geoff Gournet for final treatment. I plan to visit his shop shortly, and with him, will probably select two different patterns from his photographs, perhaps with some modifications.

Anyway, this is a major step for me, hopefully not my last hurrah, so wish me well and I invite suggestions!

Geoffrey has told me more than once, "Don't restrict your ideas to what you see on my website." He is willing to work with your ideas as well. You have picked two great guns to finish. What are the configurations of your two Repros?

Both 12 ga, English grip/splinter forend. I like the 12 ga because it offers more canvas to the painter and I prefer the proportion of the barrels to the action. Looking at some of Geoff's previous works, all are all magnificent, any would do. I do not plan to include any game scenes, strictly scroll, rosettes, vines, leaves, etc. with Parker Bros gold inlay of course. One most likely will be chisel, the other scroll, probably variations of patterns he has done if not identical.

welcome forrest..me and you turned out the same mold i like parkers and i turned 66 a while ago..this is best bunch of guys and gals you ll find anywhere.. me i like 8 ga parkers....charlie
