replacement butt plate

I got my replacement urethane butt plate from gungrips/NCOrdance and it is absolutely gorgeous. Whoever it was who said I might find I like the replacement better than the original was spot on. These guys are making a nice product. Unfortunately I got a #2 plate as I figured it would fit a 2-frame gun... not so. Should have pulled the broken one before ordering as it has a big "1" marked on the underside. I am exchanging the #2 for the #1 plate that it needs for just a little extra postage. If the one I get is a good retrofit I am going to consider replacing the plates on other vintage Parkers that I use a lot so as to preserve the apparently brittle originals, especially on duck guns like my grade 2 10ga hammer gun. My 12ga 0-grade hammer gun will be fine with it's steel plate that would do more damage to what it hit than to the gun... When I pulled my 'chipped' plate off it fell in half so now consists of 4 pcs. Damn....

What is their price?

Is the spur a good fit?

Brian Dudley 09-25-2013 10:12 AM

There was as much variation in spur sizes as there was anything else on these guns. I would not expect them to fit all guns.

I think the #2 plate will fit on my grade 2 10ga just fine once I trim the spur down quite a lot in length, so no having to return it. The spur on the original is much shorter and a bit blunter tipped than the replacement, which is far better than it being longer than the replacement. The width of the replacement plate at the widest point looks like it will be just about perfect. I may have to put it in hot water and put a tad more curvature in it. I ordered a #1 today for the 12ga. They're all $15 + $3.50 USPS shipping. They mailed my first one within 4 hrs of me ordering it. Not bad. Looks like I'm going to have to go with my 32" 12ga hammer gun for this weekend's duck chasing.... or the 10ga with 12ga equivalent hand loads.

I will get right to it! the old and fragile can sit in a box and the new and spiffy will be seen. David

Richard, let us know how difficult is is to achieve the perfect fit.

I have used their repro buttplates on Oberndorf Mauser sporters. They do not look exactly like originals but are close enough. I am ordering one for my VH with chipped toe. Hope it fits as well.

The good thing about dealing with gentlemen is they allow for a certain amount of error on their part and on the part of the buyer. The exchange policy is obviously one that makes lasting friendships and customers that refer others to them. I don't even want to look at all the stuff that I "ate" because I erred at the point of ordering and there was no return or exchange policy.

I am seriously thinking of ordering one of thede plates for my VH 12 ga.
Any more information would be helpful, especially about spur fit. Thanks.

I received my "#2 w/ spur" repro buttplate for my VH 12 today. It is a very high quality repro, much better detail than those I got for my commercial Mausers. The spur is a bit oversized so it will take some time to fit. Better than being undersized! Each will be a little different but I am very pleased with the one I received.
