Jones Underlever

I looked at a Jones underlever yesterday and it appear to have german proof marks, I did not get a good look at it. Did any german company ever make a jones underlever?

Eldon:
Yes. Many German shops used the system. I've also seen French and Belgian guns with it. Jones lost his patent, and the thing went "viral."

John is correct, the loss of the patent must have been a financial tragedy for Henry Jones but in those early days of breach loading guns it was the choice for many makers both British and continental. Simple and strong, some makers stayed with it for a long time for big bore guns and rifles.

I have only seen English guns in jones underlever so I figured I would ask. I did not get a real good look at the proof mark but I am sure it wasn't English and I know it was not Belgium. Thanks for the info.
