WW Greener puzzle

Looking for some help identifying a WW Greener that I just came into possession of. What I need to know is the model, as there seems to be no identifying marks to determine the model. The serial number is 32673 which according to my listings puts the mfg date in the late 1890's. The barrels are marked XL steel and the rib is marked WW Greener. 68 Haymarket London, Winner At All Gun Trials 1875 To 1890. It's an extractor 12 gauge and the receiver has the so called "Machine Engraving" as well as some light scroll. If anyone can help me identify the model or give me a reference source it would be appreciated.

Thanks; Mark

I was going to suggest W.W. Greener's book, The Gun and its Development; it was first published between 1875 and 1900. Alas, there are no photos or descriptions of Greener guns in it. Sometimes it pays to be patient with this kind of research and the info will oft'times come floating in over the transom and land on your desk.

If I recall, and I could be wrong, I thought Greener marked the model number under the trigger guard tang...

Graham Greener was most helpful when I contacted him about my Emperor. The WW Greener website should help to get you connected with him.

Try Googling "Greener Empire Grade", then hit "Images". You should get a whole page of photos that show everything from the plain-Jane extractor boxlocks up to and including the exotic sidelocks and "Facile Princeps" models.

I called Greener with a similar question on one I own. Graham Greener answered the phone. He pulled the stock book from the book shelf behind his desk and read me the info over the phone. We had a very nice chat about barrel wall thickness and damascus too. Based on my experience he's a real gentleman.
