Buttplate ID help please
Hi Forum,
I found this in a local shop...wish the rest of the gun was attached to it but alas... Anyway, can someone help me determine what grade or weight this was made for? Should I assume the "2" means "2" frame?? Thanks, kc http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps154194f9.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps98d710ed.jpg |
Looks like a 1900 vintage, probably off a V,P,G grade, hammerless gun, Gary

What year did Parker Bros. eliminate the spur on the buttplate? I think it was well after 1900... I think the pictured one is from the mid to late 1920's
Yes, the 2 is the frame size. |
Nice looking probably twenties vintage #2 frame buttplate as Dean says. Not many #2 frame Parkers in the thirties. It's a valuable buttplate if original. Buy it. Unfortunately, I am not an authority on identifying repro buttplates.

It's the same as the one on my 1928 New VH.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I did in fact pick it up as it was so cheap I couldn't resist. $10. I'm pretty sure though it's real.

I'm sure you're right, Ken. I have never seen that one reproduced. Head only, yes, but not the one with fore legs.

You can't buy a repo for ten bucks!
