question

was there ever a 8 frame gun made by the parker boys.. charlie

Bill Murphy 08-07-2013 01:29 PM

No, Parkers which have an 8 stamped on their rear lug are late guns that have gauge markings. The 8 is a gauge marking.

That was before forklifts, Charlie.

you sure that was before forklifts.. charlie

Well, truth be told, I wasn't sure so I looked it up. Towmotor Corp introduced the first forklift truck, in Cleveland, in 1933, so it could have been close to the end of Parker, in Meriden, at least.

Bill, are you aware of any actual Parker 8 gauges with the 8 gauge stamping on the lug? I thought the gauge stamping came after the demise of the Parker 8.

One of my neighbors here in Maryland has a late Grade 3 hammer gun with the "8", the first I have seen. I have the serial number in my files, but not handy.

Hmmmm.... what is the firing pin spacing on that one Bill?
