My friend inherited a Parker 12 gauge from her father. We're looking for info about the gun and approximate value. She plans to keep the gun in the family and pass it down to her son. We're in the process of sending in a request for a research letter.

Info:
Serial #89727 (Mfg date 1898 based on records on the Parker Website)
Grade "V"
Frame size "2"
Barrel 30" Vulcan Steel
Barrel Weight 4 / 5
Condition: barrel and frame very good no pitting, dents or scratches
Condition: Stock has good color varnish is flaking in areas

Thanks...............

Donald, your friend's gun checks out correct to the serialization book concerning barrel length and stock configuration so I'd say it is a nice honest original VH.
Without having the gun in hand I can only ballpark the value at between $1000 and $1500.
Of course it should be priceless to your friend since it was her fathers gun.
Be sure to join the PGCA before sending for the letter. You can get both the membership and letter for less than the letter would cost otherwise, plus you'll get the Parker pages quarterly magazine for a year!
Best regards, David
