Pleased to present...
Parker #156168
1911 DHE 20 gauge, 32 inch barrels, 3 inch chambers. One of perhaps a dozen guns ordered for the Hanford Duck Club which shares almost the identical longitude and latitude of the Wigeon Duck Club. This group of grade 3's predate the Wigeon guns by a year. Might someone please check the serialization book and try to find a block of guns similar to 156168. Thank you. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps7f2fe673.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps1d90e38e.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps70dd0075.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps20cdbfc5.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psdf7dfcda.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psab9d4e37.jpg |

great gun, love the setter
156168 is in the book, but there are lots of gaps in that range of serial numbers, the next number down is 156141, next above it is 156188 then jumps to 156213. the next higher one with the same specs is 156526 (156266 is the same configuration but is an CHE) a group of four with the same specs are listed as 155947 to 155950. |
Long barrels and no safety in a duck blind? YIKES!
|
WOW!!! Long barrels, straight stock, no safety....that covers all the features I like to see!!
|
Very crisp engraving on that D grade. Great gun.

No safety on duck guns was a normal thing for some members of elite duck clubs where the members knew what end the shot comes out. Lots of no safety guns in the Edwin Hedderly collection if I remember correctly. Nash Buckingham shot no safety guns. Nash claims that he didn't load his gun until the ducks were in the air. I suspect the California clubs may have had a rule requiring that.

I wonder how many people were shot with guns with no safety. Any stories? No way will I ever hunt near anyone with a gun like that. Just my two cents worth. I have looked down many barrels while hunting quail and doves in Georgia. Holy Smokes. A fellow here once droped a automatic with the safety off. It fired three times hitting him once in the side. He did survive but was hurt badly. Gerald.
