Difference in 20 Gauge STS and Gunclubs
 

Reloading data for 20 gauge always lists STS and Gunclubs with different data. Is there any real difference?

there may be but I have loaded them the same for five years,cant tell the difference. I shoot mostly skeet.

If there is I've never noticed it Ed. The Hodgdon manual lists them as the same and if you cut one of each into a cross section they are internally identical. I use the crimp as a guideline. If the crimps come out good then I'm satisfied. I load them both in 12 and 20 with the same recipe, use low pressure, light loads and have had good results.

Ya, I agree with both Daryl and Paul. I have loaded them both the same and have noticed no difference.

Thanks. I have always been careful to separate them, but after comparing load data I began to wonder. Same with AAs. Seems they will load the same as the Remington's.

Ed, My MEC in 20 gauge loves to load AA's It loads Remingtons too but not as well. I have to watch the crimps.

They do. But I've really grown to like the green Rem. gun clubs even over the old AA's.

Dave, there is sometimes a slight difference in crimps between the Rem and Win. I have to adjust my final crimp if I want both to be real nice. But then some of the guys at the club say they don't have to. Ed, where are you getting your data from? Looking at my IMR guide, they just list all Rem hulls togeather. I don't own a Lyman handbook. Every time I've looked at one I didn't like it. I just use powder companies hand books, or get on the internet and go to their web sites for data.

I too have had excellent results with the Rem Gun Clubs. I load both older W-W AAs and Rem GCs on an older Mec 600 jr for summer trap and do not have to make any adjustments when switching cases. The steel heads on the GC's sometimes hang up in the sizer but a screwdriver placed between the cam and the bolt on the sizer kicks them out easily. I think they get a bad rap as a case. The crimps are superb.
