The turnips are growing on me
Howdy All,
First sorry for the poor photos. What does Parker call this stock configuration? Yep, splinter forend and ???? http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7359/9...dfc7627e7d.jpg GHoverall by Bonadurers, on Flickr ...... and the flying turnips. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5344/9...3a7b664700.jpg turnips by Bonadurers, on Flickr The plan is to measure the wall thickness of the barrels this weekend. If the numbers are good, I'm buying a GH. :) |
It is known as a capped pistol grip.

Thanks Dean. I just couldn't remember seeing the cap. I will have to
take a better look this weekend . |
As for me, I really dig those flying turnips! I hope the barrel walls measure to your satisfaction, and that you bring it home sometime this weekend.

I like a D Grade's dogs but I can live with the birds falling to the ground on G Grades! Yes, they are not turnips. They are ducks and other fowl which but a moment ago were flying at high speed only to have been hit in mid flight by a load from the G Grade Parker in your hands! That is why their heads have dropped... Do those fowl look better now?
If one wants a good gun that won't embarrass their dog a Grade 2 Parker is the way to go! They are the best buy. Equivalent guns from other maker are Grade 2 LC Smith, F Grade Lefever Arms Co. and in my not so humble opinion, AH Fox "A" Grades. All are excellent buys in today's market and offer beauty, grace (handling), and reliability for this generation of caretakers! Mark |
Smith No. 3 ducks weren't bad

The GH Parker is an amazing gun and is a best buy in today's market no question, a great balance of engraving, wood quality and that Parker mystique. Mark O posted above that the GH was on par with the Fox A, actually the Fox A was a $38.00 gun, the Fox B was a $50.00 gun and the C was a $75.00 gun in the 1913-14 time period. I believe the GH was selling for approximately $70.00-$80.00. at that time. In the opinion of many Fox collectors the Fox B was the equivalent of the Parker GH and was the all time bargain AH Fox (except maybe the $25.00 Sterlingworth) at $50.
