Cleaning Ivory

Is there any way to clean ivory beads? One of my guns has reblued barrels and the beads are now stained grey from the process.
Thanks,
Chris

I think they use hydrogen peroxide and uv lights to whiten yellowed piano keys. Wonder if it'd work on the bluing stuff.

Humm, I would think that wouldn't be good for the steel.

I would think that a little 0000 steel wool and some mineral spirits might work...

Ivory beads are generally removed before reblueing... or replaced if they break when removing them.

2000 grit water sand paper, buff lightly, this has worked for my discolored beads

A light wet sanding sounds like a good idea. I'll give that a try and see what happens.

Other sites recommend a white vinyl pencil tip eraser and to avoid liquids
