Parker in "The Palm Beach Story"

Just caught a couple of minutes out of the old movie "The Palm Beach Story" with Claudine Colbert and Joel McCrae. Apparently a train full of drunk hunters on their way to a big (duck?) hunt. One well dressed man shot the window out of the train (from the inside) with a Parker. Probably a V grade.

This may be old news but it was new to me.

Best,

Mike

I hope this post doesn't spark a discussion about the proper shot size for shooting out train windows from the inside.

7 1/2's out of a full choke for a clean break.:)

I knew some idiot would come on here and advocate for small shot. If the glass has any thickness or excess hardness, small shot could ricochet right back in your face. I say to use your old lead 2s or 4s from the pre-notox days. I guess that settles that, unless someone has a better idea.

Jeeeez, Smurph. Chill out. Old train glass would have been easy to break. Way before any A.N.S.I standards and if shot at a right angle the deflection would have been zip. Even this "idiot" knows that. We could always have a duel.... Vintage glass at 10 paces, your choice of shot size.:bigbye:

AAHH Your both full of it!
Everybody knows the only thing used during a train robbery in the wild west (when most windows were shot out trains) was
BUCKSHOT!!:rotf::rotf:

Peter Clark 04-30-2013 10:54 PM

That's Claudette Colbert pardner and if I recall correctly, William Demerest was the shooter. They were members of the Ale and Quail Club.

Gary Carmichael Sr 05-02-2013 11:47 AM

Sounds like they got to the Ale before the quail!

Bill Murphy 05-02-2013 12:13 PM

Now that I have heard the buckshot suggestion, I will have to change my preference.
