Waxing Firearms

Has any one "waxed" a firearm? What would be the benefit besides long storage?

A lot of us wax our damascus guns. I wax all my waterfowl guns, pumps or doubles. It's magic in the rain, which just sheds off. You have to use a wax that has no abrasive component whatsoever so you don't damage the bluing. I use IBIZ, available off the web from somewhere in Florida. Others will chime in here with what they use as there are more that work well.
