What shot size??
1 Attachment(s)
I just purchased a box of Western Xpert Paper Shotgun Shls 20Ga. 2.75” but the box does not state the shot size. By looking at the measurement on the picture what size do you guys think it is? The seller say they are an 11.
If they are 11 size shot, what would you use such a small shot on? |
Angel, Number 11 shot is .060 diameter and number 10 shot is .070 diameter so going by your caliper I would say number 10
I think it would be fine for snipe or woodcock. |
Thanks Dave. No woodcocks in Florida...
|
I hear there are lots of them (woodcock) in Louisiana, that isn't so far from Florida. If I lived that close, I would be there chasing the little guys around. I have never hunted in the south but if the stories I hear are to be believed, woodcock hunting in Louisiana is great? It might be a good place to use those shells.

Send or bring the shells north Angel,
I have heard tell of such a bird around here. |
Actually Rick, I have a couple of box's of RST's in 20 gauge that Morris made up with #10 shot for Woodcock. One of them has your name on it...:) I'll give them to you at Hausemanns?
|
There you go Rick. Now I can save mine for Louisiana.

Don't think I'd ever want to use such small shot on a gamebird. I tried 9's before and even they rendered the grouse and woodcock unfit to eat if you centered them. I prefer 8's and 7 1/2's. I have cases of AA 9's in 20 ga, but will use them only on clays now.

I use #9 on Quail and Woodcock. I have used RST #10 on Quail with great success.
Harold just head shoot them and you wont tear them up:rotf: If your over burdened with those AA's some can migrate north:whistle: |
