Parker Coffee Grinders at Auction

There are two Parker Coffee grinders for sale at Cowans/Hindmans auction-Cincinnati,Ohio tomorrow(Friday March 11-10:00 AM). Im not an expert on Coffee Grinders but both of these look to be in nice original condition. Check out Lot 487 (3000 model) and Lot 488(model 700).The model 700 looks to be missing a part at the bottom where there is the open hole. If you get one or both let us know.

John, not sure about the open hole you describe, but there is an original Parker scoop included. An original scoop is pretty scarce. Most get separated from the grinder over the years. Some smaller grinders have wooden or metal drawers like the one on the Model 3000 pictured. It will be interesting to see how much they sell for.

If you look at the bottom of the grinder you will see a round hole on the left side. The picture on page 986 of the Parker story shows a completely different picture with what looks like a handle that you can open up and get the coffee grinds and no open hole- maybe its part of the scoop that you mention that fits into the open hole.

Looks like Lot 487 brought $350 and Lot 488 brought $650. There is probably a premium of 20 percent added but I'm not sure.

Those are pretty reasonable prices.

Bill, I agree, those are very reasonable prices. We looked at them in the auction catalog and thought they'd go above what the estimate was for the upper end. I think what helped keep the prices reasonable was the auction was for Americana and furniture instead of being a firearm auction.
