Texas South Zone Opener
6 Attachment(s)
South zone doves opened this weekend. Had a group at Beeville, great company and good shooting. We had lots of afternoon doves zeroed in on small water holes scattered around the ranch. I got a chance to work out my GHE 16, my buddies little female lab Belle worked hard all weekend for us. We tried our best not to drop birds in the water, or worse, the waist high grass but did end up with some of each. Belle saved us easily a dozen birds in 2 days. We'd have never found them without her. After a good afternoon in the field, no rattle snakes, not buggy, the doves got to meet the bacon and jalapenos! Good as the shooting was the Poppers might have been better. Apologies for the rotation, I still haven't figured that out.

I’m jealous! I think I recognize some of those dead dove as some I missed that were heading South. Almost all of our birds have packed up for parts unknown. :crying::crying:

All are welcome to send any extra doves down here. As you can see, we will give'em a warm welcome!

Looking good! Great start to the bird season
Our season here is effectively over. I had two great hunts so am not complaining. |
Planning to work on the teal last weekend of the early season Saturday, going back to doves the next.
