A Trio of Twenty Eights
2 Attachment(s)
Three of us got together at Peacedale Shooting Preserve yesterday. The two 28" guns have identical stock dimensions, although the placement of the PG gun makes it look shorter. Both straight stocked guns are 5lbs, 12 ounces.

Ya coulda had four.

That was a lot of fun and we were all shooting well too!
A 28 gauge Parker with a straight grip is about as good as it gets. I was shooting a new to me 24" 28ga VH(with a straight grip) and loving every second. |
Wow!

Not to be greedy...but I would like to add to this trio with a composite barreled 28ga Parker at some point. That would be perfection for sure.

Like hen’s teeth for sure.

Late on the draw Jay - Bill at Robin Holloe had a magnificent all origibal 28” barreled DH or DHE two years ago for $50k. . |
Dean, I remember that one! I wasn't at my current level of addiction/collecting at that time.
When I saw Bill at the Southern this spring, I talked to him about that gun. It is the only damascus 28ga I have held. Given the chance again, I would raise the funds for it... |
Jay, you never held mine, the 24” Damascus DHE?
. |
Dean I have not seen that gun, but it sounds wonderful! I really like the 24" 28 VH I just got. That is a nice barrel length for the the woods and I am surprised how a well a short barreled gun can do on a clays course.
A quick search of TPS give the following numbers for composite barreled 28s: PH - 2 Twist GH - 38 Damascus DH - 11 Damascus CH - 3 Damascus BH - 2 Damascus AH - 1 Damascus While rare I feel like it is within the realm of possibility to find one. |
