Those are some mighty hot 28-gauge loads for 1904!!

At that time the North American ammunition manufacturers only catalogued the 2 1/2-inch shell with 1 3/4 drams of bulk smokeless powder pushing 5/8 ounce of shot or the 2 7/8-inch shell with 2 drams of bulk smokeless powder pushing the same 5/8 ounce of shot.

Chas. Askins the Elder writes in his 1910 book of handloading similar loads as old Gaucho for his 6 3/4 pound, 30-inch, Parker Bros. 28-gauge.

I had a opened box of these with 20+ loaded shells in the box .
