Pricing Two Parkers

26 Attachment(s)
Looking for advice on pricing 2 Parkers. These guns were owned by my great step grandfather, Charles Neuviller. I have included photos of the research letter for both guns. The DH 16 gauge, seems to be in original condition, except the LOP is 12 7/8" as my step grandfather was very short. He died in 1959 and I know this gun has not been shot since then. The VH 12 gauge has been refinished along with the LOP which is 13 7/8". Barrels have been cut to 25 7/8". As shown on the research letter, for the VH my great step grandfather returned it for repair in 1915.
Here's the back story, Charles Neuviller lived a life most of us can only dream of. My Great Grandfather and Mother owned silk mills in Paterson, NJ and after my great grandfather died, Charles married my great granmother. My great gandmother had been running the mill for some years, and wanted to continue doing so after remarrying. Charles had no interest in the business and just wanted to hunt and fish so that is what he did.
I would appreciate any guidance anyone can give,
Thank you,
Richard Muller

Not that its very helpful but if I owned a silk mill, id like to hunt with a DH like that.

The 16 has the remnants of a recoil pad. It was attached to the stock with those many nails, as was described in the instructions with the pad. The remnants and the nails must be very carefully removed and a new pad of vintage type can be installed in a way that doesn't require nails. What a wonderful gun. The VH is not a bad gun, just not original.

I believe the pad on the DH was one model of the Jostam pad, don't remember which one. The stock on the VH appears to have been sawed off at the comb and another piece added on, probably to decrease the drop. I can't imagine someone who would just want to hunt and fish.

I can't read the letters from your uploaded images. I will take a wild guess. The DH 16ga appears to be a nice example but the cut short stock is a value killer, my guess is $4 to $4.5K. The VH is a basket case and would value it at $ 450.

1500 maybe, you have to find another stock for the
DH 16

Find another stock for the 16? You have to be kidding. The stock on the 16 is pristine and needs a good original style pad, nothing else. Did I miss something?

I have very little doubt this was the pad that was removed on the DHE. I had two in the original box with the original tacks included. Bought by a Fox Collector. I originally had 3 in the box and used one on a GHE 12 gauge that Dan Rossiter installed the pad on and yes, he used all the tacks. As I recall the first part of the pad it tacked on and then the second layer is actually glued on. Makes for a very impressive looking pad.

That DH 16 is a very nice example and I would be proud to own it. It’s got all kinds of original condition and I’m with bro Murphy about that stock… maybe not quite pristine but in excellent original condition with original checkering and if you can get a correct pad like Tom shows, even better. I’d shoot Tom a PM asking if he’ll part with that one - but if not, be patient, you’ll find something that is appropriate.

I agree with Bill and Dean and think that putting a pad on like Tom shows would bring the LOP back to what the research letter states. The letter was a little blurry when I enlarged it but I believe it states 14 1/4 LOP.
