Been a long upgrade......

Hey folks....

First - and let me get this out of the way - ever since the update a few weeks ago, two PGCA Members were having trouble getting on the site/forum given the upgrades to the Secure Certificates as their "Anti_Virus Software" didn't like the redirects. So, I've been trying to "fix the issues until I break them"..:rotf:

If this doesn't make sense to you - no problem - just read my last paragraph in this post ;) ;)

So, if you are still with me in reading this.... It appears that the higher level and current certificates break operating system browsers that were dropped and last supported in 2009/2011. I'm so sorry for that, but, in my opinion - the security of this site is paramount, and always has been... So....

On the server end - all "www.parkerguns.org" should automatically redirect to "https://parkerguns.org". If you get an error on that redirect or your bookmark given the age of your browser - simply change your bookmark to "https://parkerguns.org" or, for this forum - "https://parkerguns.org/forums" if it's not automatically redirected from your out-dated browser. Some of you with 1st Gen iPads (which were left unsupported in 2011) might be able to access the Forums through those links...

Next, the site certs (SSL/TLS) are automatically updated and renewed, and I can't really hold back updates based on previous technologies. Sometimes, updates happen that break outdated code and programs.

As I've updated a whole bunch of stuff over the past days - if these fixes do NOT work for you - drop me a PM with the details, OK? While I'll try to support older devices the best I can - I'm not sure how long into the future I'll be able to do so, as the updates roll on without us? So.....

And - if you are having problems logging into the site - please be sure your system/browser is current and updated. If you are still having an issue - please let me know AND PLEASE INCLUDE your operating system, browser and version and specifically what error messages or issues you are having, OK?

My thanks for all..!

John D.

Hey John! I am still using Windows 7 and everything is working very well, indeed! Thank You so much for staying ahead of all the technical changes for those of us who are not so inclined! My access and navigation of this site from a laptop has always been smooth as silk. Very much appreciated, Sir., Joe

I was having problems but John helped tremendously. Went in this afternoon and had the error mentioned. I copied the https://parkerguns.org/forums version and now I don't have the error. Too technical for me, but happy we have Mr. Dunkle to assist!!

COBOL!!!??? When I first went to work for the Smithsonian Institution Science Information Exchange (think, 'Think Tank") in March of 1973, COBOL was an endangered species according to them for rapid retrieval of clinical and experimental data.

What changed? I know nothing about computer programming but it seems to me that if COBOL is still in use it must have undergone a NASA upgrade or a "special offer" package from Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic to propel it into the myriad pathways of 21st Century webspeak! I'm impressed!!!
