Shot sources

I can find no local lead shot and was told the stores are unlikely to restock(ever) due to low demand. Is there a consensus best choice if the only choice is to buy online. Shipping seems to be a killer.

The cheapest and most reliable source i have found is the 2 clubs i belong to. Both order clays and ammo and one distributor also has shot, powder and wads. The other is walking distance from a distributor and they bring it over to ship with the clays order. Both priced in low 40 range.

How does your reply help him?

Aaron,
Try rotometals.com, I used to order my shot from them. I used to order the reclaimed shot and paid the extra price for the washed and graphited. If you get the regular reclaimed it is very dusty and dirty. I have been making my own for the last three years so I don't order from them anymore.

If you are referring to mine it is a suggestion to go through a club ordering system, if he belongs to one or have a friend who does do it for him.

I was thinking PA or NY . Shyda’s has or had a bog amount of West Coast shot at $52@bag .

Frank Srebro 08-06-2022 07:44 AM

Eagle brand hard shot was available last weekend at the Northeast SxS in PA. $50. per bag out the door. I would think shot could also be available at the Vintage Gunners Cup at Hidden Hollow in PA a little more than one month hence. If you (or a friend) will be there I suggest you post that intention so that gents will bring some, at then prevailing prices.

Mike Koneski 08-06-2022 08:53 AM

We still have 6 bags of shot in the shop left over from the Northern SxS. Still for sale but one needs to come pick it up, no shipping.

Gary Laudermilch 08-06-2022 11:59 AM

Shot and wads have been the two items that were readily available over the last two years. My local shop had lots of Eagle last week at $50. Amazing how availability can vary so much regionally.

Chuck Bishop 08-06-2022 12:57 PM

Mike sent you a pm

Keith Doty 08-06-2022 01:36 PM

Rotometals. I get 2 bags at a time and free shipping to my area. Comes in the "if it fits" box thru USPS. The poor little gal that's my mail carrier hates it! She now backs up to my shop door and we unload it for her.

I brought 32 bags back to Virginia

Mike Koneski 08-06-2022 09:21 PM

The last bags of shot have been sold.

Shot at the closest place to me in VA is $64@bag for Lawrence magnum . By no means is Lawrence worth $15@bag more than Eagle magnum to me . The difference in cost alone almost makes it worth the drive . And if I was gonna be in PA anyway it’s a win win situation .

Does anyone have any experience with "spartan magnum" shot? saw this at a store over the weekend. They had a pallet so I thought id research it before stocking up

Harry Gietler 09-05-2022 09:18 AM

Reclaimed Shot

I Can bring (2) JUGS of reclaimed shot (55)lbs. each TO the
VINTAGE CUP AT Hausmanns if any body needs it.

Harry

PS--Reclaimed Shot Gets the Job Done for a lot less ''Money''
$25 FOR 55lbs. Compared to $60 plus tax for 25lbs.

Yes, no problem using Spartan Brand.

Daniel Carter 09-05-2022 02:11 PM

Spartan is made in the EU and the last order through club i got 8 in Lawrence and 9 in spartan. The Spartan was more money but highly polished and uniform. It does the job.

CraigThompson 09-05-2022 05:42 PM

I’ve brought 52 bags back from PA this spring/summer twenty bags from Shyda’s and 32 from Rock Mountain . Twenty five bags of that were for a friend . I’ve also picked up half dozen bags in VA this spring for a greater price . I work on the premise that’s it better to have and not need vs not have and NEED but can’t find
