Quail hunting

Recommendations for quail hunting lodge in North Carolina

Bob my "guess", being from the South, is that your choices will be limited in NC and what you might find probably isn't going to be nearly as "authentic" as some of the Deep South plantation hunts. I could very well be terribly wrong about this as I have zero experience hunting at lodge/plantation type venues, but from what I have been told is southern Georgia is the place to do these hunts.

I often see pictures for this place and looks to be well run.

I have no personal knowledge of this place so proceed with caution.

I did see an article about the Webb farm recently, but I cannot remember where. You might "google" that to see an account.

I tend to agree with Reggie about the "deeper" South and its quail plantations. If you are not locked into NC, I'm sure guys here can recommend places. I've enjoyed many posts of hunts from members who hunted plantations in SC and Georgia.

If you are set on NC, you need to look at the central and eastern sections of the state particularly the sand hill country. Southwest Georgia has put and take operations on about every corner, if we had corners in SOWEGA.

Thanks for the responses but could use more ideas also some personal experience.
The Quail hunt is a bucket list item. I don’t get out of New England very often so my thought was to visit my grandson and family in Washington DC for a few days then drive some where and try a nice Quail hunt for 2 or 3 days. Great dog work is very important.
I have started to look a 2 places The Webb Farm as mentioned above and George Hi plantation. Both of these places are about 6 to 7 hour drive from DC which would work and they seem fine. I’m not expecting that any of these places have a lot of native birds as they only have 1000 to 1700 acres. Also if they had a sporting clays course that would good.
I’m also planning to have my wife accompany me, she does not hunt but would tag along so the accommodations are important.
Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions.

Bob:

Consider Rasawek Preserve in Goochland, Virginia. It’s only about 2 hours from DC and you get a true Southern experience. I never felt so far below the Mason-Dixon Line as I did those few days in Goochland. The guides and their dogs are passionate, and they even have those yappy little buggers that go in for the flush.

Check it out: https://www.rasawek.com/

Morrison Pines (no relation) in Moultrie, Georgia, is the gold standard in my opinion. Drake's Landing has guided quail hunts too last time I checked.

Bob, Webbs is great tradition, and there are countless preserves that have released quail in NC….If you are looking for an ultimate high end experience, you may want to consider Primeland…They are located in Meadows of Dan, Va. which is on the NC - Va border, and easy to get to from DC…They have quail and other hunting as well as European style driven hunts for pheasant. They have clays as well as a spa for the family. I haven’t hunted there personally but have heard good things about it. I do hunt in the area and it is beautiful country…If it were a bucket list item, I would check them out….
