Friends, Feathers and Fraternity
While I was cheering on Harold Pickens and his amazement in the South Dakota weather :rotf:, I was able to get another beautiful day under the belt with good friends. We were very blessed to spend this day in the outdoors following our dogs. Sitting in the sun, in mid-January, cleaning birds is a real treat in south Dakota.
Jeff Sweeter, another mutual friend, and I were able to corral a few roosters hiding out in a creek. Took about 90 minutes and it was all smiles. Jeff is shooting a 12 gauge Model 21 and I was shooting a Parker 16. https://i.imgur.com/EwsoriP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LUC0JzO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VNmnHZW.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8HCXE4d.jpg |

If I hadn't miscounted I'm pretty sure we would have had 9 laying on the table as we passed up a couple close shots at the end of our walk.Better to be one short than one long. There will be an extra one available next time we hunt that spot.

Congrats!

I'm more envious of the weather than the birds (but envious there, too).

Congrats!! Very jealous! Thanks for the pics...Now can we assume that the barely visible yellow Labrador Retriever in the first picture was largely responsible for that beautiful table full of roosters??

Looks like a great time! With a little luck, I will get on some woodcock this weekend.
