NID grade 5- unusual
9 Attachment(s)
I have in my possession an Ithaca NID grade 5 that is unusual in that it is a non ejector with vent rib, beaver tail forend, and what appears to be a factory grade three but-stock. Anyone have any thoughts? Could it have been ordered with this configuration?

Interesting, are you able to post pictures, there are some pretty knowledgeable Ithaca guys on the forum.

Pictures added
I just managed to add the pics. Took me awhile to accomplish that.

Definitely looks like a Grade-3 buttstock...
. |
What’s it choked? And barrel length?
|
Chokes and length
Barrels are 32". Chokes are .010" and .014" Front bead is ivory and brass and the middle bead is ivory.

The forend is not a Grade 5 either. Perhaps it was restocked front and back with with a lower grade wood! A definite mystery, but I’m confident it’s not factory work!

The checkering on the grip is No. 2.

The forend is not an Ithaca forend, shape is not correct and it does not have the triangular ebony inlay. |
I have added two more pictures. I do see that the stock has number two checkering, thanks!
The stock has the same serial number stamped under the trigger guard. The stock really looks like a factory stock. and the age of the wood and finish is in keeping with the age of the gun. Please look at the inside picture of the forend. If someone other than the factory made this forend then I think they were very good. |
